A herd of sheep got high on marijuana after mistaking it for food and feasting on the thousands of pound worth of cannabis. The
flock began stumbling around after getting extremely high on around
seven full bags of the plants, which was dumped at Fanny’s Farm in Merstham,
Surrey, England. The crop, consisting of plants as high as 3 feet tall,
was dumped at the farm and was discovered by the sheep who feasted on
it as it tasted better than their usual grass meal.
According to Nellie Budd,
who manages Fanny’s Farm in Merstham, surrey, the sheep smelt of
cannabis and were obviously high as they spent several hours stumbling
and making strange noises.
“At first I thought it
was someone’s hedgerow rubbish. I went down to collect the bags so the
sheep weren’t eating black plastic. When I got there, I realised it was a
form of herbal cannabis plant. They were very strong in scent. I have
no idea how they got there. It’s right next to a road and the footpath
is quite open,”
Nellie Budd told The Mirror.
Fortunately, the happy flock of sheep didn’t suffer any other side effect from eating enough marijuana.
Detective Constable David Fair,
the police officer in charge of the case, said it was irresponsible for
whoever dumped the cannabis there for the sheep for feast upon. “We are
doing all we can to find out how the drugs came to be at the location
and who is responsible for growing and discarding the plants,” David
Fair revealed.
