4th March, 2014: At the 78th birthday celebration of Nigeria’s former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, there was a novelty football match to mark the occasion at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto Abeokuta, Ogun State. Team A (Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, OOPL) was led by Obasanjo the celebrant while team B (Ogun State Government) was led by Governor Ibikunle Amosun. Obasanjo’s team won 2-1 and the celebrant himself scored the two goals after wasting many chances. The match lasted for 60 minutes after which Obasanjo received the Golden Boot Award while Amosun got the Most Valuable Player Award. The Golden Glove Award went to the 83-year-old Akin Mabogunje, professor of geography.
