President of Burkina Faso, Blaise Campaore has resigned from office after 27 years in power. However, he resigned due to the massive protest by the people of Burkina Faso after he planned to extend his stay in office. This caused a large turnout which resulted in burning down the country's parliamentary house.
Campaore in his statement today said his seat is vacant and in the next 90 days an election should be conducted.
In the meanwhile, the country's army chief Nabere Honore Traore has taken over power and instituted a transitional body that would conduct elections in the next 90 days.
