Why I Tore My PDP Membership Card In Public - OBASANJO

In a telephone interview with Premium Times, Chief Obasanjo said party members in his ward led by the ward Chairman, Mr Surajudeen Olajundoye paid him a visit that Monday to express their concern over his inactivity in the party, saying that his inaction has made them uncertain of their own political future in PDP. They also told him that they heard that the state party leadership was in the process of expelling him from the party.

"They were concerned that I had only one leg in the party, and worried that since I’m their leader in the ward, they need to hear from me. "You are our leader and it is you we are following. You have remained a card-carrying member of the the party. But since you became angry with the party we have lost sense of direction and now we are hearing that they want to expel you. If they expel you, where do we go? What do we do?” Mr. Obasanjo quoted the ward chairman as saying.

Chief Obasanjo said after listening to them, he resolved that the party can not stand between him and his love for Nigeria

"In my response, I said when you people came you were singing a song and I agreed that Nigeria is our own. If the issue is the party, I will not choose the party at the detriment of Nigeria and I will fight for Nigeria even at the detriment of the party. I will rather surrender my membership of the party so you people can move on politically. If you people’s worry is that I’m a card-carrying member of the party and I’m not showing you people direction and you are worried that I’m neither here nor there, this is the card; you can keep it, you can burn it or you can tear it, do whatever you want to do with it.”

According to him, it was the ward chairman that tore his membership card.

Mercy Johnson and her husband,Odianosen Okojie  share their amazing love story ,how they met, their bond and why they would never cheat on each other..The tell it all in this new interview with Punch

# How did you meet each other?

Odi: I met Mercy for the first time in 2008 on a flight from France. We both flew Business Class and I asked for her number but she refused. She was very down-to-earth even as a celebrity. I know how a lot of them behave but she is different. Being very focused and a go-getter, I did everything I could just to have her including her number after I set my eyes on her.

Mercy: After the flight episode, he came around to Surulere where I was getting my hair done at a saloon. Somehow, he had gotten my number and we spoke. We talked and later had dinner.

# Was it a case of love at first sight for both of you?

Odi: Yes, it was. I realised in no time that she is homely and everyone who comes in contact with her just loves her.

Mercy: I love his personality and I am in love with everything about him. He knew I was an actress but he didn’t know I was that popular. I remember the very first day I got to his house, he asked someone to buy some condiments for me to prepare soup for him. Then, I said, ‘You must be joking, my name is Mercy Johnson’ and all he said was, ‘I know.’ That simple action drew me closer to him.

# On How He Proposed

Mercy: During a conversation, he suggested that we take our relationship to the next level. While we were dating, I knew we would get married because he became a part of my life and we were very passionate about each other. There was a day we attended a wedding and he said, ‘I think our wedding cake should have a tint of this colour.’

# Any jitters when you were going to meet his parents for the first time?

Mercy: I met his parents on our third date and his mum liked me— she is a fan of my movies.
Were you prepared for the attention that comes with being married to a celebrity when you decided to marry her?

Odi: Yes I was. As a matter of fact, she was a star when I met her but not as big as she is right now. I have decided to remain on the quiet side and watch her excel in her career and I am extremely proud of her.

I have heard that said too, but it isn’t totally true. Fuji and juju music are still selling. Are they commercial music? Gospel music is selling here and we all listen and love it. Is it also commercial music? Of course not! I promoted my songs with the resources I have. Today’s music demands that you spend millions in promoting your songs and shooting videos. If I shoot the video of “Babatunde”, or any other in Las Vegas, and bring Jay Z or Nas to have collaboration with me, that kind of a thing will make a buzz because of the place and the artistes involved. But should these kinds of music accompany our music? Today’s music is evil, they say, but who made it evil? What I’m trying to say is that my kind of rap, which people used to love sometime ago, may not be loved today, but that doesn’t change my music. I’ll continue to do what I love doing and what seems right with me and my fans. Let others do ‘Shoki music and make their money, I’ll also make mine in style.

HEALTH: Standing On One Leg

According to a study published in the journal Stroke ,being unable to stand on one leg for more than 20 secondswas linked to an increased risk of 'silent' stroke - tiny bleeds in the brain that don't cause symptoms, but which raise the risk of both full-blown stroke and dementia.

The ability to balance on one leg is an important test for brain health,' "Individuals showing poor balance on one leg should receive increased attention, as this may indicate an increased risk for brain disease and cognitive decline.

..says Dr Yasuharu Tabara, associate professor of genomic medicine at Kyoto University, Japan, who led the research.

53-year-olds who could stand on one leg for ten seconds with their eyes closed were the most likely to be fit and well in 13 years' time. However, those who could manage only two seconds were three times as likely to die before the age of 66.

Protesters numbering about 100 stormed the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Monday, demanding the postponement of this month’s general election.

The youth gathered at the INEC headquarters in the Maitama District of Abuja asking it to delay the polls because of the difficulty in the distribution of the Permanent Voters Card, PVCs.

According to the protesters, only 40 per cent of the poll had been distributed ahead of the February 14
and 28 elections. They also claimed that INEC needed 960,000 ad hoc staff but that at the time of their protest the staff had not been engaged.

They argued that if the polls were allowed to go ahead as scheduled, several million Nigerians would not be able to vote.

27 year old Missouri woman named Evelyn was recently featured on TLC's "My Strange Addiction", where she revealed that she's addicted to drinking air-freshner. According to Evelyn, she drinks 20 cans of air freshner a week and sprays up to 50 times daily.

"I love air freshener. In the last three years, there is not a day where I’ve not had it. Fresh linen is my favorite flavor. Apple crisp is like dirt.”

Evelyn said it started one day when she walked past an automatic air freshner spray, and it “dusted” her cup of glass. She gave it a try, and became hooked. Her man says he hates it but because he loves her, he's understanding.

 Rodrigo Alves, a 31-year-old flight attendant who lives in London, is making a name for himself after reportedly spending more than $265,000 on 30 body and face changing procedures so that he has achieve the "perfect" form.
